for families

We help you stay close to your child when they're in hospital, free of charge for as long as you need it. We provide emergency support and we provide advice and assistance.

For staff

We fund staff training bursaries and we fund specialist staff posts. We support staff to attend conferences and share skills with others.

For Children

We provide specialist equipment just for you, we help mum and dad stay close by, we buy lots and lots of toys and provide entertainment. We make your time in hospital less scary, and more fun.

ARCHIE People:

Welcome to our website and to The ARCHIE Foundation. Every year we are called upon to support countless sick children and their families. Sometimes that support will make a difference for just one child, sometimes it will help every child in the North of Scotland with a particular illness or condition. Indeed, through our research programme we've also got an eye on making the difference tomorrow too.

I hope you enjoy reading about our work here and, if you do, perhaps we'll see you at one of our fundraising events in the near future.

Many thanks

5 examples of what we do...

  1.  - We’re investing more than £2m in the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital to transform it following 10 years of heavy use! Once our renovations are complete the hospital will be one of the most child and family friendly anywhere in the world.
  2.  - In April 2016 we will open the new ARCHIE Highland Children’s Unit. A £3.5m new, 30 bed children’s Unit for the whole of the Highlands. This will transform children’s healthcare across the largest health board area in the whole of the UK. The ARCHIE Foundation are investing £2.1m in the project with the balance coming from NHS Highland.
  3.  - We continue to fund a transformational service for children with chronic pain through our ARCHIE Specialist Nurse programme. With 277 children benefiting from the service in the final quarter of 2015, we cannot over-estimate the difference this service is making.
  4.  -Our ARCHIE Family Centre, with 19 rooms to keep family close to long-term patients, continues to operate at more than 90% occupancy – tackling the issue many families of when they live many hours travel from the hospital in Aberdeen. We are proud to continue to provide this service free of charge every single day of the year.
  5.  -With nearly one advanced nurse training application being received every week, our significant investment in paediatric nurses makes a huge difference every single day, and night, of the year. We are incredibly proud of the children’s nurses across the North of Scotland and look forward to extending this support in the coming years.
